How does smile detection work?

KeepSmilin' uses Apple's Vision framework to detect genuine smiles (Duchenne smiles) by analyzing facial landmarks in real-time. The app looks for the characteristic eye squint and mouth shape that indicate a real smile. All processing happens entirely on your device.

Why isn't the app detecting my smile?

For best results:

• Make sure your face is well-lit and clearly visible to the front camera
• Try smiling with your eyes - a genuine smile involves slight squinting
• Position your face in the center of the screen
• Remove any obstructions like sunglasses or masks

Is my privacy protected?

Absolutely. Your privacy is our top priority:

• All smile detection happens on your device - nothing is sent to servers
• We never store photos or videos
• Face data exists only during active camera frames and is immediately discarded
• We do not share any data with third parties

How do streaks work?

Complete one successful smile session per day to maintain your streak. Your streak count shows how many consecutive days you've smiled. Miss a day and your streak resets to zero - but don't worry, you can always start again!

Can I use the app on iPad?

KeepSmilin' is optimized for iPhone. While it may run on iPad, the best experience is on iPhone with its front-facing camera.

How do I enable or disable notifications?

Go to the "Choices" tab in the app and tap on "Reminders" to configure your daily smile reminder. You can set a specific time or enable random reminders throughout the day.
